Anyone who has seen Jack Black's movies can tell you that he CAN be funny, he can also get so absorbed in trying to be funny, that he starts being kind of sad to watch. This album shows you the best and the worst of his brand of comedy. Songs (and skits) range from the laugh-out-loud-until-you-have-to-find-a-kleenex-because-you-dribbled-a-little-bit-of-pee hilarious ("Inward Singing") to isn't-this-supposed-to-be-a-comedy-ablum unfunny ("Lee"). The album has more hits than misses, however, with many of the songs becoming the kinds that you pull out at a campfire, once the kids have gone to bed ("Fuck Her Gently").
*note to amateur guitarists: It's incredibly awkward to have your grandmother, whose basement you were living in at the time find your chord/lyric sheets for "Fuck Her Gently," so tread lightly.
