Imagine, if you will, that Matchbox Twenty and Pearl Jam simultaneously impregnanted the Dixie Chicks. Their offspring would sound like Counting Crows. I've been focusing on that line and haven't come up with much more to say about them. Let's start with the 4-star songs and see where we go from there.

"Omaha" has a catchy sound, without giving way to the plaintive whininess of other singly tracks like "Time And Time Again." During the chorus, it starts to sound like it's intended to actually be an anthem for Nebraska's tourism department, but it's at lesat a good theme song.

"Mr. Jones" has familiarity from its radio play, but doesn't have the substance to warrant it.

"Perfect Blue Buildings" has touches of beauty in its slower, well-planned tone.

Beyond that, the albums songs are loosely structured tunes that sound contemplative, but without firmly grabbing the listener's attention first.
