Other wrestlers had crossed over into other media before. Hulk Hogan did Mr. Nanny and Santa Claus With Muscles, Roddy Piper had They Live, but as far as I know (and I don't want to be corrected if I'm wrong), The Rock was the first to host Saturday Night Live. I stayed up way past my bedtime the night that The Rock hosted, and probably skipped church the next day, since I had no need for a God after what I had seen.
The following are two of the more memorable skits.
In the first, The Rock plays a smoking cure called Nicotrel, including a delightful cameo by Triple H, Mick Foley, and The Big Show at the end.
And in this one, we realized just how far The Rock was willing to go to entertain us, playing the father of Chris Kattan's monkey/human hybrid character "Mr. Peepers."
