"Jagged Little Pill" was a tough act to follow. It's a strong album, with both integrity and radio-friendliness (the cussing aside). It's also the 14th best-selling album of all time. It's hardly any wonder that Morissette decided to go in another direction entirely for the follow-up.

Instead of pop hits, many of the songs on this album are stripped, bare, vulnerable lamentations and observations. The spirit is certainly there, but I just couldn't get behind the music on a consistent level. `
