Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks

Blood On The Tracks starts of quite strongly with the very catch, very listenable "Tangled Up In Blue." Coming up next is the slower, swingier, howly "Simple Twist of Fate."

Things start to go off-track with "You're A Big Girl Now," where the slower pace exposes an over-fascination with repeated rhymes. It's not rare to wonder if Dylan is worried about concepts of sense for the sake of creating couplets. Then, in "Idiot Wind," he rhymes "like" with "quiet," so apparently not even the couplet thing is all that important.

The next great song is "Meet Me In The Morning," a song making a lot out of the 12-bar blues structure. Showcasing a pretty decent vocal line, and some really sexy guitar backing, this tracks adds some much-needed variety to the album.

Next come three rhymey, Bob Dylan-y songs, including "Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts," which seems to be the 9-minute ballad of a scallywag.

Blood On The Tracks ends well with another tone-changing song, "Buckets Of Rain." It's got a soulful find of sound, and more of a focus on creating good-sounding music rather than writing anthemic lyrics.
